Itinerary
You will be picked up by an accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable guide from Equatorial Wild Safaris who will transfer you to Gulu for an overnight. You will have lunch on your way there. Along the way, you will look through your car window and appreciate the diversity of cultures and the uniqueness of the different ways of life that people lead. You will see the differences in culture and the traditional way in which people carry out their normal activities.
People are very friendly, welcoming and warm to everyone, this hospitality may be very new and alien to most visitors. The guides are knowledgeable, therefore they will feed you with knowledge of what is actually going on around you because it is in knowing that you can truly appreciate all this diversity. This is the beauty of Uganda.
After breakfast, you will head to Kidepo Valley National park via kitgum. Kidepo National Park lies in the semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya. It has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species and around 475 bird species. Kidepo ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses.
On arrival, you will check into your lodge. It is very cosy and comfortable. After checking into your lodge, you will have lunch relax and wait to go for an evening drive along the Narus river valley where you will view elephants, herds of Buffaloes, Jackals and Jackson’ s Hertebeest, Klipspriger, leopards, bush duiker, bush buck, kavirondo bush baby and lions plus many other mammals. Durindg the dry season, the only permanent water in the park is found in Wetlands and remnant pools in the broad naris valley. These seasonal oases, combined with the open savannah terrain make the narus valley the park’s prime game viewing location.
Wake up to the rhythm of Nature and Sunrise game drve in and around Apoka valley. After breakfast you will emback on the morning game adventure that will take the route of Kanangorok hot spring. The journey to the hotsprigs passes you therough some magnificent and breath taking landscapes Here a number of animals like the East African big five can be seen wandering around as well as birds like the Ostriches.
The semi arid section of the park is home to hotsprings and elegant Magestic Ostriches. This section of the park also commands amazing sceneries of Mountains across the border in Sudan. Return to your loge for lunch. After lunch if you don’t feel so tired, you will go for a walking Safari with an armed guide around the park.
After breakfast, with your packed lunch you will visit Lorokul cultural group and explore the fascinating ancient culture of Karamojong. The Karamajong are famous for their ability to maintain their traditional ways inspit e of the modern influences of todays society and they are notorious for cattle herding. This remote tribe is located outside Kidepo valley National Park. We shall lead you to discover the unique culture and ways of this group through the Lorukul cultural group. You will walk with the guides through their manyattas(homesteads).
You will learn how these people make their beads and other traditional jewellery, you will understand the social importance engraved in body piercings and body designs, sample local dishes and hear stories of the folklore of the remote tribe. After the cultural tour, drive to Gulu for Dinner and overnight
After breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala via Nakasongola. We shall stop for an amazing and delicious lunch of your choice along the way. Later, we shall bid farewell to this amazing trip we were fortunate enough to share with you.
