A Wedding and the subsequent honeymoon holiday after saying I-do is without doubt the most important thing in the life of any couple.  Those days should be cherished, memorable and remain forever unforgettable- a story to tell your children and even grandchildren!

A honeymoon trip is a life time memory, a sensitive thing, and we believe for its success, all details should be worked out and well organized; after all one makes such a journey only once in a lifetime.

There are several Hotels and Lodges ideal for your Honeymoon in East Africa.  Whether you’re a luxury or Budget traveller, there are good provisions for all.

It will be entirely up to you and your spouse to agree on whether you want to have your wedding and honey moon in East Africa or just either the honeymoon or the wedding alone.

EWS offers four different categories of weddings for you to choose from.

  • the African cultural wedding,
  • the modern wedding,
  • the beach wedding
  • and the wedding in the Wild Equatorial Africa.

African Cultural Wedding

This way of taking the life-long vows has its own attraction, because the unusual wedding ceremony takes place in a village or typical setting of one of the numerous tribes in East-Africa, in authentic traditional wedding attire and in an exotic ambience, surrounded by the indigenous tribe’s people, clearly causing an aura of the tribe’s history and culture through out the function. Century-old drum rhythms, and many other traditional songs and dances accompany you to the altar, and the tribal-elders will take you through the ceremony step by step, each step being a theme of the rich tribal culture, with the wedding function slowly winding up after a couple of hours of fascinating beauty, truth and revelation of the cultural facts of the tribe playing host to the function, with the couple exchanging vows and saying “I-do” and definitely with you going home with a different “marital status”. The whole village takes part in your happiness and you will be looking at only joyful, laughing faces because the hospitable inhabitants receive you as one of their own tribal members, even giving you a tribal name!  You will receive gifts typical of the tribe and locally brewed drinks will be served.  With the slaughtering of an ox, goats, chickens and much more you will be accorded a very special honour. Remember, the whole day’s events are covered on video and photographs.  You can decide to listen to the drums and songs in the village house by the side of your loved one till late in the night, or preferably to spend the wedding night in a nearby luxury lodge. No matter what your choice, a wedding of this nature will remain unforgettable for the couple, your family and friends, but also for the villagers.

Modern Wedding

The modern wedding is celebrated in a church, a luxury hotel or any other place of your choice. It is the way of making the standard and holy perpetual vows that are known in any country in the world, only that it takes place in Africa. Everything takes place as per your desires, all in the company of your family and friends.  Decorated luxury limousines wait for the couple in the morning in front of the hotel and take the bridal couple with a lot of pomp to the wedding altar. The Bride groom and his Best man and sometimes groomsmen are all looking kingly and smart in their usually black suit and bow tie, while the Bride looks queenly and elegant in her usually flowing white gown and diamond stoned tiara.  She is walked down the aisle by a close relative- usually a parent.  On her entourage are her maid of honour and usually many other maids all beaming and pretty.  In the presence of God and many witnesses, the priest weds and proclaims you husband and wife!  After the unforgettable wedding ceremony, the newly wed couple sneak off for a photo session in a photo studio and at any beautiful gardens and then host their guests to a colourful and sumptuous banquet and party that will last all afternoon and evening with lots to eat and drink and with lots of music and dance too, with the highlight of the banquet being the wedding cake!  The couple is showered with many gifts by all well wishers in the course of the party.  Of course a traditional dance and music group should not miss out on such an occasion, after all you are in Africa.  Remember, the whole day’s events are covered on video and photographs.  At the end of the party, the young couple will say bye to family and friends and proceed to start their honeymoon at a place of their choice or dreams.

Beach-Wedding

If both of you are sun / sand-lovers then you should say “I-do” to your love on one of the dream-beaches of the Indian Ocean, or any of the many lakes in East Africa.   Many beach-hotels are well prepared for this type of wedding ceremony and they also offer exclusive service in addition to the Honeymoon Suites.  With the sounds of the roaring water and the natural smells of the plants and creatures from the waters to the unpredictable patterns of the wind under the real African sun while standing on the white lake / ocean sand, you enter your next “marital status” in style – saying  ‘I-do” in the presence of God and many witnesses.  Real romantics will kiss and give each other eternal vows bare-footed.  At this point, while your guests are treated to a cocktail, you will proceed to take garden and beach pictures that can best be described as “Award winning” pictures! The actual ceremony then takes place with a reception party on the beach under palm trees with a view to the blue waters, exactly the way you’ve always dreamt of.  The rest of the afternoon and evening is about a romantic golden sunset, eats, drinks, music and dance, with the highlight of the evening being the wedding cake!

Equatorial Wild African Wedding

The wedding in the wild is the most unique type of all weddings.  It is basically for those who love adventure and nature.  Just imagine how you would say
“I-do” to your loved one before her/his whole family in an idyllic luxury lodge in the middle of one of the world-famous National Parks, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape, exotic animals and the typical noises of the Equatorial African natural environment…  Be it the 7th Wonder of the World – the Masai Mara – the legendary Kilimanjaro, the huge Lake Victoria, or the magical Virunga Volcano – the awesome Albertine rift valley region - no other part of this world is more varied, no other part of this world can offer more marvellous wonders of nature than East-Africa. They are true places for reflection sensuality – downright ingenious for giving man the ultimate promise for life.  Accompanied by your family and friends, in such a natural setting you will enter and begin your new life in marriage in style.  After the wedding ceremony and before you host your guests to that sumptuous banquet, you could sneak out for a game drive or sight seeing, depending on where the wedding takes place and while at it take memorable pictures!  The rest of the afternoon and evening is about a typical African sunset, eats, drinks, music and dance, with the highlight of the evening being the wedding cake!  The couple is showered with many gifts by all well wishers in the course of the party.  Of course a traditional dance and music group should not miss out on such an occasion, after all you are in Africa.  Remember, the whole day’s events are covered on video and photographs.  At the end of the party, the young couple will say bye to family and friends and proceed to start their honeymoon preferably at the same lodge where the function was.

Conclusion

Another reason why you should come for a Wedding-trip in East-Africa is the cost. Compared with a wonderful wedding celebration and the subsequent trip in your home country, an equivalent and comparable arrangement here possibly costs only about 25% of what you would pay at home.

Tell us your dream wedding and/or honeymoon and we will take care of it all.  Of course it would be great if we also arranged a special safari for your family and friends while you sneak away to your memorable honeymoon!
