Day 1
DAY 1: KAMPALA– MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL

On the first day of this adventure, our guide will pick you up from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala. He will welcome you on board and enthusiastically usher you in to our adventurous world of safaris. From Kampala he will transfer you to Entebbe international airport to catch up with a scheduled flight to Pakuba airstrip.

You will use the flight from Entebbe to Pakuba. On arrival at Pakuba, you will be met by a guide from Equatorial wild safaris who will transfer you to your place of accommodation for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, you will take a boat trip to the bottom of the Murchison falls. These falls are very beautiful and intimidating. With a large force, they hail from above and thrust deeply in to the water below causing a rapid flow of water.

At the bottom of the falls, those who believe in their level of fitness can take a hike to the top of the falls. For those who will take a leap of faith and go for the hike, they will get to see the magnificent view from the top of the falls. The scene is truly breath-taking and quite out of the world. After, find a car waiting for you on the other side for transfer to your lodge. Those that will not take on the hike will return by boat. The trail is well maintained and has become a popular inclusion to the visitor’s attractions in Murchison Falls National Park.

Arise by the morning and enjoy a well prepared breakfast that will sooth your morning taste buds. As the day beckons to you in anticipation, we expect you to embrace the events ahead with an adventurous spirit. Availed with lunch, you will be expected to report to the park headquarters before 8am for registration and general briefing. The guides will equip you with knowledge and skills that will guide you throughout the day. They will then take you through the bush, trekking through thick vegetation and walking on forest foot paths, pushing your way through the thick creepers and undergrowth to track the gorillas. (This trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours-a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes).

The journey could be exhausting but if you savor the moments and enjoy every little bit of adventure and adrenaline experience, time will pass by so fast and you will not know how it did. Together with your guides, you will sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other and marvel at sheer size of the dominant male; the silver-back. The experience is really amazing plus it is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rain forest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas in the world today.

Day 5
DAY 5: MT RWENZORI-HIKING

Start your adventure filled day with a healthy breakfast and head to Trekkers hostel where the climb begins. Trekkers Hostel in Kyanjiki is 12 kilometers from Kasese past Kilembe and here you will meet your guides and have briefing about the days activities and rules of the National Park.

The first two kilometers climbs steadily through montane forest, with tall trees thick underground and a multitude of different species of birds and primates. Then steepish climb up a main ridge with few rocks and firm footing except immediately after a heavy downpour, the forests are untouched and carry a wide variety of trees and plants. Many species of birds can be heard and seen in this rich environment. The first few kilometers climb steadily crossing several small streams and rivers then we start climbing the ridge. As we climb the trees become taller and straighter and it is common to see and hear many types of primates, on the left you may hear troupes of chimpanzee echoing around the valleys.

Particularly around our lunch spot at 2,570m it is possible to see troupes of 15 to 20 black and white Colobus monkeys or Blue monkeys as they dash through the trees as natural fruits are many. A few hundred meters beyond the lunch spot the bamboo zone commences and we climb up another half kilometers to a small cave which was previously used by poachers. Here we have a short rest before returning to the Rangers post and back to Kilembe.
