Gorilla Tracking
Together with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, Uganda’s western region is the habitat for one of the most extra ordinary and special species of animals – the Mountain Gorillas (lat.: Gorilla gorilla beringei beringei).
The population of the “gentle giants” at the moment is about 750 animals and is slowly rising.

The DNA of a human being shows the third-biggest homology with gorillas, right after chimpanzees and bonobos. In numbers, the degree of relationship between gorillas and human beings is 97, 7 %.

Bird Watching
Uganda – the hidden paradise of ornithologists!

If you have a faible for birds, then Uganda is the African country where your dreams come true. Due to new scientific research there are around 9.800 different kinds of birds in the world of which – at least seasonal – around 1. 065 species and subspecies can be found in Uganda (Source: Avibase, Bird Checklists of the World) . That's about half of all types common on the African continent of which the area of the Queen Elizabeth National Park is leading with about 500 different species.

Mountain Climbing
There are several demanding challenges for alpinists in East Africa. Climbing the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mount Kenya in Kenya or the Rwenzori Mountains, the Mgahinga Mountains and Mount Elgon in Uganda are top on the list. There are of course other ‘not so high’ but interesting mountainous areas in East Africa.

All of these offer great routes and many possibilities for hiking and mountain climbing. For example, all the volcanoes of the Virunga-chain with their breathtaking landscape can be reached from the Ugandan as well as Rwandan side.

Sport Fishing
Uganda is one of Africa’s richest countries with reference to water bodies.

Its wonderful environment is the ideal place for sport fishing. A fifth of the country is covered with water which is the best prerequisite. Wherever you are, the scenery is fantastic.
It is not necessary to be a professional angler. We are more than happy to host occasional anglers or even beginners who want to give it a try. So far, everybody who has tried has caught something!
