Uganda is one of Africa’s richest countries with reference to water bodies.
Its wonderful environment is the ideal place for sport fishing. A fifth of the country is covered with water which is the best prerequisite. Wherever you are, the scenery is fantastic.
Where can sport fishing be done?
Lake Victoria, River Nile and National Parks (especially at the Murchison Falls and Lake Mburo) and many other smaller lakes scattered all over the country notable of which are; Kyoga, Albert, George, Edward, Bunyonyi, Kwania, Bisina and many more.
Fishing in Uganda has also been developed in ponds, both natural and man made, though the man made ponds are entirely commercial ventures.
When can you do sport fishing?
Sport fishing can be done throught the whole year in all the areas in Uganda and the East African Region.
Prepared Equipment
If you decide on a Sport Fishing tour organized with Equatorial Wild Safaris, rest assured that all the equipment needed by a successful angler, whether professional or occasional will be provided. These include:
A Motorboat; Rubber sitting mats; Full functioning fishing rods of high quality; Baits and other equipment; Food and drinks; Skipper and guides.
All motorboats have sun and water protection and technical equipment including mobile phone, fish-search-machine and GPS-system. For safety reasons, a fire extinguisher, life jackets and a first-aid-kit are on board. Our experienced skipper and guides will take care of you and provide help and suggestions if needed and contribute everything possible to ensure that you will have a memorable Sport Fishing Adventure in Uganda.
Your Own Equipment
Anglers sometimes are particular concerning their sport and therefore we want to mention that it is acceptable to us if you want to bring your own equipment or special parts that you can not miss. It’s also possible for you to combine part of your own equipment with that provided by us. We however offer to provide equipment since the luggage restrictions on flights are tight.
You will however need to provide for yourself the following:
Small backpack; Summer jacket; Sun cream; Cap/ hat; Sunglasses; Bathing shoes; Mosquito repellent; Any medicine if needed; Towel; Raincoat; Camera and/ or Video camera; Binoculars; Special drinks; Hygiene articles; Torch and spare batteries.
It is not necessary to be a professional angler. We are more than happy to host occasional anglers or even beginners who want to give it a try. So far, everybody who has tried has caught something!
