What is a public holiday?
This is a holiday or vacation which is set up by the national authorities of states or through worldwide agreements and during this time Government offices, schools and most offices are closed. Public holidays in Tanzania are generally intended for cultural reasons or celebrations, such as the celebration of an important happening like the Zanzibar Revolution Day, Saba Saba Day , Karume Day , Peasants’ Day , Tanzania Independence Day, Mwalimu Nyerere Day, and even worldwide recognition of certain groups like the International Labor Day meant for workers, International Women’s Day (celebrated across the world to pay honour to the great women of the society) or devout commemorations like Christmas or Eid al-Adha or Eid Al-Fitr (End Of Ramadan)
and others like Boxing Day which is celebrated on the 26th of December after Christmas.
