Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park is a situated in southern and it contains a diverse array of landscapes. Kibale is one of the last remaining expanses to contain both lowland and montane forests.
Kibale National Park is mostly known for its Chimpazee and primate tracking. With 1450 chimpazee and 13 other primate species. Kibale’s most popular activity is the Kanyanchu Primate Walk. Thirteen species can be sought, and a good variety of diurnal monkeys invariably encountered, but the stars of this trail are the chimpanzees.
Kibale National Forest has one of the highest diversity and concentration of primates in Africa. It is home to a large number of endangered chimpanzees, as well as the red colobus monkey.
There are 13 species of primates in Kibale National Park. The park protects several well-studied habituated communities of common chimpanzee, as well as several species of Central African monkey including the Uganda mangabey, the Ugandan red colobus and the L’Hoest’s monkey.
Other primates that are found in the park include the black-and-white colobus and the blue monkey.
Diet of primates in Kibale National Park
Chimps are generally fruit and plant eaters, but they also consume insects, eggs, and meat, including carrion. They have a tremendously varied diet that includes hundreds of known foods.
Different other species have different diets and many of the species are folivorous.
One study actually found that black-and-white colobus monkeys eat younger leaves over older leaves (this is thought to happen because the leaves have more protein and are easier to digest).
Accommodation
The park has excellent accommodation with Kibale primate lodge that is located in Kanyanchu.Others include up-market accommodation,tree houses and undemanding cottages are discovered at Sebitoli.Every accommodation has a campsite with a restuarnt serving both local and international cuisine.
Budget accommodation is also found at Bigodi ,Nkingo and Ndali crater area. Ndali is well known for its up-market accommodation and other budget alternative such as Chimpanzee guesthouse along with lake Nkuruba Fort Portal town also has high standard accommodation.
